At the end of the season, there was a significant presence of gray whales; a high mortality rate alerted us: La Paz Tourism

The Tourism Director of La Paz, Natalia Ruffo Castaño, reported a remarkable turnout of gray whales during the sighting season in Puerto Chale. However, there were also numerous reports of mortality, with some whales unable to carry their pregnancies to term due to being severely underweight. The gray whale season in Puerto Chale runs from January to March, officially closing in April. Despite a good season, there were concerns raised by a high mortality rate towards the end of the season, indicating the whales were arriving in poor conditions with dwindling food supply. The official expressed a need for greater awareness of climate change impacts.
